The Snapshot should contain the old values*/ĬREATE DATABASE DBSnapshotTest_Snapshot02 ON ( *Verify that you can Select from the Snapshot This can be beneficial in many ways because you can compare data before and after changes have been made to help you test how your changes affected the data. Snapshots also have another benefit in that you can have your users read from the snapshot to see how data looked when the snapshot was taken. Microsoft has an excellent article if you would like more details on this feature: Basically what happens is those original pages that were stored in the snapshot replace the pages that were changed. When I say, your database will look like it was when the snapshot was taken, that means all data and even objects. Optionally, you can rollback to your snapshot and force your database to look like it was when the snapshot was taken. If you drop the snapshot, then the changes are kept in the database. All the original data pages that have changed on your database are stored in a snapshot file. This example loosely resembles what happens with Database Snapshots. The easiest thing to do is to just take a copy of your Snapshot and replace the working draft. You edit your draft document and save it but the next day you realize that you don’t like any of those changes you made and there is no way for you to remember all the changes you made to reverse them. So what do you do? You probably copy that document somewhere else creating a Snapshot of it. (The ODBC driver will then reformat the call for you to match the given database. You realize later that you may want to make some adjustments, but the software you use does not support some fancy change tracking features. To call a stored procedure right now, pass the call to the execute method using either a format your database recognizes or using the ODBC call escape format. You are satisfied with that draft letter and so you save it on your computer. Imagine that you are writing a letter to someone using some word processor application of your choice. After running updates to data, comparing data before and after the updates.īefore I get to the good stuff, let me explain what Database Snapshots are and how they work exactly. We probably don’t need to remind you of this, but here’s a PSA anyway. While most golf clubs don’t have strict rules around alcohol, it’s always a good idea to check. Water is a must, no matter the weather.Īdditionally, it’s a good idea to check with the course before bringing beers. Eighteen holes is a long game, especially when you add booze on top of it, so it’s important to keep these drinking guidelines for golf in mind and stay hydrated. While it’s tempting to play these games whenever it isn’t a serious golf outing, fighting a hangover the next day can ruin your weekend. Before you start downing beers on the 18th tee in a desperate attempt at a comeback, consider what'll be better for your performance, a point off your final score or being sober enough to actually hit the ball. So, you’re actually rewarded for drinking more. If you’re playing a particularly bad round of golf (we’ve been there), you may start drinking to forget your score, but what if we knew a game that actually improved your score the more you drink? In Lower Your Score, players can take one point off their final round total for every beer they drink. That way, you can split the cost of booze the next time you play. As an alternative, when your buddy takes a Mulligan, have them donate $5 to the group beer fund. This makes it easier to keep a steady buzz rather than getting hammered since you don’t have to drink unless you choose to. MulliganĮvery golfer takes the occasional mulligan, but if the goal is to get tipsy, why not make players drink for a do-over? To play this game, golfers are allowed to take as many mulligans as they’d like, but it comes at a cost. Each time a player forgets their beer, they have to take a drink. In Don’t Forget Your Beer, players must have a beer in their hand at all times unless they’re taking their shot. Like Even and Odd, this game isn’t focused on your golf score. Good news is everyone will be equally intoxicated by the end of 18 holes. If they don’t finish in time, they’ll have to drink two at the next hole. If the player is drinking a beer, their beer must be finished before finishing the hole. Once players have chosen, they drink a beer or take a shot at odd or even holes. This game has players randomly choose between evens and odds. If you’re looking for a drinking game that doesn’t care about your golf score, look no further. If birdies are common in your golf group (*insert our exaggerated eye roll*), you can kick things up a notch and take a shot every time a player lands an eagle. If you're running with an exceptionally skilled golfing crowd, why not choose a golf drinking game that requires some marksmanship? Each time a player sinks a birdie, the rest of the players present have to take a drink. Hit it straight if you want to keep seeing straight. Since this game isn’t score specific, it’s a great option for larger groups with varied levels of golfers. Why not make them drink for it? In Hazard Play, golfers who land their ball in the water or bunker (or, optionally, anywhere but the fairway) have to take a drink. Hazard PlayĮven the best golfers have to play from the rough occasionally. This is bad news for your buddy who spends half the round searching for his golf ball, but great news for anyone who consistently manages to avoid dead last. For an alternative that’s a little lighter on the booze, have the player with the highest score on each hole take a shot. So, if your golf game needs a little work and you regularly see seven on your scorecard, consider taking a sip of beer in place of a shot. While tequila is fun on the first hole, being blacked out by the ninth isn’t. Beer Bogey requires players to take a shot each time they make a stroke over par on a hole. If you’re looking for an excuse to take some shots between strokes, look no further. Ready to leave visions of course records behind? Check out a list of our favorite golf drinking games below. Having a beer at every hole won’t help your golf swing, but it’ll make it a lot easier to forget your score. Sebastian stated that in the past, he engaged in "messily sampling every dish available," and he has since resorted to only consuming "high-quality" souls. Furthermore, Sebastian existed for a rather long period of time, and therefore, he occasionally muses that Ciel Phantomhive's life in comparison would feel like an instant. In particular, he mentioned that the creatures kept as pets there are in no way comparable to cats. Sebastian's real home is in an alternate world that is quite different from the human world. Moreover, he profoundly adores cats and once kept at least thirteen hidden in his wardrobe to prevent Ciel from finding out. He is also proficient in Deutsch (German) and East Franconian, a dialect in Southern Germany. Sebastian views money as "rubbish" and "materialistic." He is fluent in French and Latin, enough to teach the latter. Sebastian is fascinated with humans and how seemingly insatiable they are, for they are willing to "drag others down to get what they want, even in death." In general, he regards them as "difficult creatures." Additionally, he has a great and mutual distaste for Grim Reapers. His paramount goal is to claim Ciel's soul. He strictly adheres to his demon aesthetics and principles, one of which is not entering into multiple contracts, for he views such as inelegant. Sebastian is cunning and morally bankrupt, and he has no qualms about lying, cheating, and seducing others to gain the upper hand. He usually behaves in a cavalier fashion when Ciel appears to be in danger, as he is confident in his ability to rescue him, but he may express concern when the situation grows precarious, such as when Angelina Dalles or Undertaker posed a considerable threat to Ciel's life. Nevertheless, Sebastian is in actuality a callous and sadistic demon he is ruthless when attacking others on Ciel's orders, and he occasionally puts Ciel in nonfatal danger for the sake of his own amusement. Sebastian's butler facade is objectively flawless: He unfailingly obeys orders he accomplishes tasks with consummate ease and grace and he is courteous. One of his quirks is that he always responds to Ciel's orders with the saying "Yes, my lord ( 御意 イエス ご主人様 マイロード He is sometimes critical of his master and how he treats his workers, but once admitted that he is not averse to the butler lifestyle despite the concomitant daily troubles. He does not sleep- demons deem sleep a luxury-and often spends his nights fulfilling his duties. He faithfully carries out every one of Ciel's orders while ensuring that the Phantomhive household runs smoothly as the head butler. Sebastian is devoted to Ciel Phantomhive. ĭetails of Sebastian's demonic form include high-heeled stiletto boots, sharp claws, glowing fuchsia irises, slit pupils, and longer, sharper teeth, with dark wings and multiple eyes. He also sports white gloves, a pocket watch, and a chained silver lapel pin bearing the Phantomhive crest, which is traditionally worn by the house's head butler. Sebastian typically dresses in a butler's outfit, which consists of black trousers, a six-buttoned double-breasted tailcoat, and a gray vest on is his shirt cuffs and tie is the Phantomhive crest. The back of his left hand contains the mark of his Faustian contract with Ciel Phantomhive. Sebastian takes on the appearance of a tall, handsome adult with black hair, reddish brown eyes, pale skin, and black fingernails. It's not, if we're going to follow the way of Jesus, really try to follow the way of Jesus: live Christianity rather than talk about it or hold it up as an ideal. So it's really an anomaly, a contradiction, to think of Jesus as a king because right away, we think of those aspects of earthly kings - power, wealth and force - and make that Jesus' way. Human kings follow the ways of the world, not the ways of Jesus. "My ways are not your ways my thoughts are not your thoughts." As high as the heavens are above the earth, my ways are above your ways my thoughts above your thoughts." We can't just follow the ways of the world, the ways of our flawed humanness that want to dominate over others, that want to accumulate in wealth, who want to use force. It reminds me of what the prophet Isaiah says when he says about God: "My thoughts are not your thoughts my ways are not your ways. These are the ways of Jesus, and they are dramatically difficult. Those who live by the sword die by the sword." Violence brings violence - always greater violence - and so instead of the violence, Jesus heals the person whose ear has been severed. Jesus says, "Put away your sword don't use violence. I must prevent this," and so he draws his sword and began to flail with the sword, slices off the ear of the high priest's servant. Look, even in the garden, at the risk of his life - they're coming to take him prisoner, to torture him, put him to death - one of his disciples says, "I must defend him. He wasn't willing to let go, to not keep on trying to build up, accumulate wealth, get more and more and more. Follow me live a life of simplicity - of poverty - having what you need, but not more than you need." In that Gospel incident, the young man went away sad because he had great possessions. Don't depend on your riches any longer, your wealth. Give it to the poor then come and follow me. says with love - and says, "If you want to truly be perfect to follow me now, go sell everything you have. There's that incident in the Gospel where the young man comes to Jesus and says, "What must I do to gain everlasting life?" When Jesus says, "Well, keep the commandment," "I've done that from my youth my early years." They draw money from the poor and build up their own wealth so they can always do whatever they want that money can obtain. Or take wealth: Kings are identified with wealth. You must be servants." That's kings and human kingdoms act. He said, "As I have done to you, you must do to others. Isn't that what Jesus showed them dramatically at the Last Supper, when he got down and knelt in front of each disciple and washed his or her feet? He took the role of a slave, a servant. The one who is to lead must be the servant, the slave of all." Jesus is upset, and he not only rebukes them, but he calls all the disciples together and he says to them: "Look, among the Gentiles, those who are not part of God's chosen people, those that in power lorded over others - lorded over others - among you, it cannot be that way. They're thinking of a human kingdom they want to be at his right hand and his left hand. There's that incident in the Gospel where James and John come to Jesus seeking the first place in his kingdom. Look at the idea of having power over others. Kings use force and killing to get their way. Kings have power kings have wealth kings lorded over others. What's wrong with calling Jesus the king? Well, there're three things in the Gospels have become very clear that we identify with kingship, with someone who is a king. It's never been tried," and I think, as we celebrate this Feast of Christ the King, it's an evidence that we really back away from that idea of trying genuinely to follow Jesus. Some years ago, many years ago, Mohandas Gandhi - the great Hindu religious leader in India who brought about a revolution, an overthrow of the British empire through active love, not violence - said about Christianity: "Christianity has not failed. Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe Pilate says, "Are you the king of the Jews?" Jesus refused to accept the title: "You have said it, not I." Jesus rejected the whole idea of being a king and calls us also to reject this idea and to think of ourselves as being followers of Jesus, a king. Remember in the Gospels the couple of times that people wanted to make Jesus a king and he refused? In fact, he went into hiding when he was in trial before Pilate. Today we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King - probably one of the most almost direct contradictions of the way of Jesus as we could find to celebrate. |
